Roots for Reece is an annual chef-led gathering now in its eighth year, bringing together more than 16 North Carolina chefs for an afternoon of open-air cooking, live music, a curated pop-up market, and community connection on the grounds of Landon Estate in Clayton. Participating chefs include Kevin Ruiz (Cuya Cocina), Jake Wood (Lawrence BBQ), Matt Bounous (Death and Taxes), Eric Montagne (Locals Seafood), Tiesha Whittaker (Buttermilk Boutique), and more, alongside beverage partners Trophy Brewing, Deep River Brewing, and Revival 1869. All proceeds benefit the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition. Since 2019, the event has helped fund more than 3,000 doses of naloxone statewide.
