Join us in honoring the life and legacy of Pfc. Booker T. Spicely (1909–1944), a Black World War II soldier whose courageous stand against Jim Crow segregation on Durham’s buses became a defining moment in the city’s early civil rights history.

Hosted by the Museum of Durham History, in partnership with the Booker T. Spicely Committee, this special public program will feature an intimate conversation with members of the Spicely family, who will reflect on what it has meant to see his legacy publicly acknowledged, and the tradition of service and resilience that continues within their family.
