Our Family Field Day will not only provide a day of family-friendly entertainment but also serve as a bridge between generations, connecting our Irish community to its roots.
RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA, AUG 2024 - Le Chéile North Carolina, a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting and enriching the lives of Irish diaspora and people of Irish descent, is thrilled to announce its inaugural "Family Field Day" event. Set to take place on October 26th, 2024, this celebration of Irish culture and tradition promises a day of fun, games, and community spirit for all ages. Supported by a heritage grant from the Irish Government, the Family Field Day aims to recreate the beloved village festivals that have long been a staple of Irish community life. The event will feature classic activities such as the wheelbarrow race, egg and spoon race, tug-of-war, and three-legged race, offering both nostalgic memories for Irish immigrants and new experiences for younger generations. "We're excited to bring this cherished piece of Irish heritage to North Carolina," said Sandra Holland, Director of Le Chéile NC. The event will showcase a variety of attractions, including: Traditional races and games for children and adults Artisan food vendors Arts and crafts exhibitions, face painting, live Irish music featuring Carroll Brown, live Irish dance performances, food and beverage stations. Le Chéile NC anticipates that the Family Field Day will become an annual tradition, further strengthening the Irish-American community in the area. The event is open to the public and will take place on the grounds of the Knights of Columbus in North East Raleigh between 1pm - 6pm on October 26th.
