Centro and the Boys & Girls Club of Wake County will host the Day of the Dead 5K at 10 a.m. Oct. 28. The race raises funds for the Brentwood Boy & Girls Club, which provides after school activities for the Latin American community in Raleigh. The race starts at 10 a.m. at Centro restaurant, goes through Oakwood Cemetery and loops back to Wilmington St. We will have two altars; one at Oakwood Cemetery and one on Wilmington Street where people will be able to do offerings of flowers and written messages in memory of their loved ones. The race includes prizes, a costume contest, face painting and children's arts and crafts. All runners who are 21+ will receive a voucher for a Trophy Brewing Day of the Dead beer. Race registration costs $35 until Sept. 30; the cost increases to $40 up until race day. Don't want to race?
