Alchemy, defined as a seemingly magical process of transformation, creation, or combination, describes the actions of the artist nearly as well as it does those of early scientific practices. As artists work to translate emotions, experiences, and places onto a canvas they not only combine materials, but transform them into an entirely new creation. Alchemical Abstracts features abstract works of art by Lena Guavo, Kim Maselli and Kevin Bass that reach beyond the surface to the viewer, creating a space to reflect, connect, and contemplate.
