Our 2018-2019 Season opens with the classic Russian fairy tale, Firebird. This spellbinding ballet combines all the elements of a great story-a handsome prince, a beautiful princess, and an evil sorcerer. Firebird is set to a powerful score by Igor Stravinsky. Tchaikovsky was an inspiration to Stravinsky and the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto is considered one of his greatest. Zalman Raffael will take on this monumental work to open the season. Aram Khachaturian's Spartacus has become a staple of Russian ballet. Robert Weiss’ pas de deux evokes the Russian spirit of the music with bravura, lifts, turns, and jumps.
